Halo Effect Marketing, an Austin, Texas-based marketing consulting agency, is proud to announce that it has recently received two significant certifications- Woman Business Enterprise (WBE), and Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). These certifications were obtained after a rigorous application and evaluation process, and they represent an important milestone for our small business. In this blog post, we will explain what these certifications are, what they mean for us, and why they matter to government and state agencies as well as large contractors. So, let's dive in and explore the benefits of being a WBE and HUB certified business.

What is a WBE certification?

According to the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), a WBE is a business that is at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by one or more women. To obtain this certification, a business must go through a thorough review process that verifies the business is truly owned and operated by women. The benefits of having this certification include access to networking events, national recognition, and increased visibility with corporations and governmental agencies seeking WBE suppliers. This certification is recognized by thousands of corporations and federal, state, and local governmental agencies across the United States, including the State of Texas, who recognizes the WBE certification as a key component to foster diversity in the state’s economy

And what is a HUB?

HUB certification is granted by the State of Texas to businesses that are at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by individuals who are socially and economically disadvantaged, usually meaning woman- or minority-owned. This certification is designed to help HUBs compete for state government contracts and agreements more fairly.

The Texas HUB program explained

The program standards provide assistance to minority- and women-owned businesses in obtaining a level playing field in procurement and contracting opportunities. By awarding HUB businesses a 30% goal of the total contract spend for State of Texas contracting, the State is increasing opportunities for HUB certified businesses to develop their economic viability and compete for public sector contracts. The HUB certification program is also receiving recognition from some private enterprises who focus on supporting diversity in their own supply chains.

So, what does it mean for Halo Effect Marketing to have both certifications?

For starters, it means that our small marketing consulting agency was able to successfully meet stringent criteria required by the certifying agencies. Now that we are certified, our WBE and HUB certifications are essential marketing tools that allow us to access new business opportunities and gain credibility with clients. In addition, companies looking to achieve their diversity and inclusion goals will often seek out minority-owned businesses with WBE and HUB certifications to meet internal and external metrics. Most importantly, being certified as a WBE and HUB business allows us to continue providing high-quality consulting services to government and state agencies while supporting overall social and economic development in our community.

Overall, Halo Effect Marketing’s WBE and HUB certifications demonstrate our commitment to growing our business and fostering economic inclusion in our community.
